Glenn is the name. Born in the Hague and brought up until I was 9 in Suriname. After studying computer science, I work in ICT for myself.
From a young age been involved in climbing and survival.
The subtropical rain forest in Suriname stirred my untameable longing for the extreme.
As well as outdoor sports been playing sports all my life.
Swum for years, and done athletics – was even the Dutch champion high jumper.
Since the age of 12 been practising martial arts, such as Kempo, Thai boxing and kick boxing.
In 1994 took part in the Camel Trophy.
In 1996 came second in the Survival of the Fittest in the Black Wood.
In 2006 became the winner of the Tour de Suisse (with Ronald Naar).
But still prefer the silence of the Outdoors.
Nature can be your best friend, but the fight against the forces of nature are too great to be overcome.
This fight has no boundaries and knows no rules, only the chance to conquer yourself and to push your boundaries.
In the battle against the elements it’s rare to have someone at your side who you trust and how motivates you.
I met this person in 1996, and he’s called Mike.
Mike and I have undertaken lots of different adventures, and we make a good team.
We compliment each other where it’s needed and always have loads of fun.
Mike is very impulsive when it comes to challenges – hence the Amsterdam Dakar Challenge.
Whilst on holiday he called to ask if I wanted to look at a website. That is how it came about that we registered this year and are unbelievably busy with preperations.

I’m so looking forward to starting – rather sooner than later…
